Book Review: Dune
By: Haley Troha
You may have heard of Dune, the movie that’s coming out this year with Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet starring in it. What most people don’t realize is that the movie is based on a book by Frank Herbert. Dune is a sci-fi novel set mainly on the desert planet of Arrakis. It follows the story of Paul Atriedes, the son of a Duke who comes into power on Arrakis. The Harkennons, the former rulers of Arrakis, are out for revenge. Paul will discover his purpose, become lost in the sands of Arrakis, meet the nomadic Fremen, and fight against evil powers that seek to destroy him. It’s a pretty good book, and if you’re planning on seeing the movie, I would highly recommend reading it for background knowledge. It is actually part of a 15 book series, each one with its own plot twists and thrills.
